A New Paradigm for Financial Markets
If anyone’s well placed to comment on the reasons for the financial mess the world’s in right now, it’s George Soros. Marketed as a cuddly philanthropist, he’s one of those small few who made a staggering fortune from obscure financial instruments like those he talks about as he explains how CDOs, swap buyings and ‘toxic waste’ mortgages led us to where we are. It’s possible simple greed caused all this trouble, but just as likely that many of us simply aren’t equipped to understand such abstracts. He could have written in plainer language and if you can stay with it past the introduction, maybe you’re one of the chosen few.
