Seven Psychopaths

One thing you can’t accuse ”Seven Psychopaths” of being is empty. The only question remaining is what exactly it’s full of? Without the benefit of another viewing or two, it just looks like all kinetic style and noise, no real story.

One of the film’s strengths is in not casting judgment on the characters – you’ll find yourself equally fascinated and repulsed by people who can so seamlessly let technology take the place of real people entirely on your own view.

Maybe that’s a bit harsh. I, Robot is a good movie with outstanding action, Will Smith’s signature 80’s-era, black action comedy-inspired wisecrack persona, cool visions of the future and as much of a message as any event movie allows.

There are people who go to the movies for the sort of thrills you imagine when you used to play with your Transformers or Star Wars figures. So does Michael Bay, and he gets $145m to play with. Don’t expect any more than that, but expect a lot of it.
