The device takes up less space than a few large remote controls on your TV cabinet, and connects to both the TV and your home network router via cable or wireless. There are a few limitations, but like everything Apple does, it points the way to the future. A word of warning however — watch your downloads. It’ll be easy to rack up big data charges.

Apple is mostly right with their oft-repeated refrain It Just Works. Of course, you wouldn’t expect it any other way if you inhabit a world exclusively of Apple products. As soon as you bring another operating system or protocol into the equation, they’ll tell you that’s the element causing the problem.

The lack of anything outstanding besides the sexy design makes the Nokia N78 a passable but unexciting device. Too many functions (such as easy typing) are rendered difficult in the pursuit of cool, and despite up to the minute features like Maps, there’s little to get excited about.

The top of the device has a few backlit controls such as a ‘back’ button while you’re browsing, a ‘select’ button for capturing text, left and right click arrows, superfast scrolling controls and rudimentary multimedia controls.
