Despite it being years since Kevin Costner’s do-no-wrong The Bodyguard and Dances with Wolves days, he keeps popping up despite a long string of flops. And pairing him with comedy director Tom Shadyac seemed bizarre, but couldn’t have worked better.

Matrix: Reloaded
May 1st, 2003

For Neo, Morpheus and Trinity, the Matrix is a dangerous place where programs in the form of the fearsome Agents hunt them relentlessly. But a much greater danger exists; chocolate cake that can give you an orgasm.

An Inconvenient Truth
September 1st, 2006

The graphs and figures speak for themselves and while they’re in a much-condensed form, they make An Inconvenient Truth a very powerful movie.

I, Robot
July 23rd, 2004

Maybe that’s a bit harsh. I, Robot is a good movie with outstanding action, Will Smith’s signature 80’s-era, black action comedy-inspired wisecrack persona, cool visions of the future and as much of a message as any event movie allows.

Mr Brooks
August 1st, 2007

The main players still have it after several decades but the movie’s like episodes of their own star TV shows interspersed together. Legend has it Mr. Brooks is the first chapter of a trilogy and let’s hope so — there has to be a point in there somewhere.

Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever
September 1st, 2003

An atrocious movie with no qualities except lots of (albeit pointless) explosions could have been made better with more background, but it probably would have made it a lot worse. Half a point for sparing us, another for the pyrotechnics.
