February 2009 Films
February 1st, 2009

Sharp dialogue and strong dramatic chops lift it into very affecting territory. Great work from masters of the craft (Norton) and actors who’ve appeared in their fair share of duds (Voight and more recently Farrell) make it something special.

Hollywood Hell Towns
March 1st, 2010

Humans are herd animals. We’ve always lived together — in groups of only a couple of hundred in our prehistoric days right up to tens of millions today. But few places are more fertile for movie lore than the small town.

February 3rd, 2009

December 2008 Movies
December 5th, 2008

The last time a big name director made a fairy tale the result was M Night Shyamalan’s Lady in the Water, and we all know how that turned out. Dangerous Living
June 25th, 2012

In the old days, all we had was ourselves. We’ve gone out there and rolled cars, set ourselves alight and jumped off buildings. And we knew that if we didn’t have our arse covered we weren’t going to get through.
