It’s a Revelation

June 1st, 2002 Film, Film Features, Filmink

Since 1998, the festival called ‘one of the best, if not the best film festival in the country’ (by Triple J) and ‘the best of Australia’s myriad of new film events’ (by the Australian) has been wowing them out west.

Running in late June (and already having been extended due to ‘unprecedented interest in the 2002 event’ according to their website), REVelation — the 5th Perth International Film Festival — is already shaping up to be huge, with 75 films selected form around the world including winners selected from the flood of entries.

Features and shorts are joined by docos, music, counter culture and retrospective films as new, unknown directors show their talents alongside some classic old material by some of the masters of the underground scene.

Playing in Perth’s grooviest film venues, it’s about more than showcasing great talent. Working closely with other festivals and distributors, the organisers say they give film makers avenues for screening and sales throughout the year — what they and audiences both need in our Hollywood studio-saturated market.

Heavyweights like The Australian Film Commission lend their sponsorship, and you can sign up for updates at www.revelationfilmfest.org
