It makes sense to view online content on your TV, and Apple TV is a streamlined and attractive machine to make it possible. It connects to your Mac so as to sync your content from music and pictures to movies and everything in between. You can also download and view Youtube videos but their default low resolution is terrible on the large screen of a recent model LCD television.

The device takes up less space than a few large remote controls on your TV cabinet, and connects to both the TV and your home network router via cable or wireless. There are a few limitations, but like everything Apple does, it points the way to the future. A word of warning however — watch your downloads. It’ll be easy to rack up big data charges. Rating: 3
