iLife ’09
Price: $129
The new offering of Apple’s media tools contains the same components (iMovie, iPhoto, GarageBand, iDVD and iWeb), but there are several new features that make it work a look even if you have a recent version.
The two most exciting additions come with iPhoto. Faces is a facial recognition tool that isn’t perfect but helps identify and classify people in your images. Places lets you embed location metadata to an image. Your GPS phone records it to images automatically, or you can do so manually, and you can also upload direct to your Flickr or Facebook accounts.
iMovie has a new video stabilisation feature and GarageBand offers you a new feature called Lessons, which — as the name suggests — teaches you how to use it. If you buy a new Mac iLife ’09 is included, but if you have an older model, the first shock you’ll receive is that it only works on Mac OSX 10.5 Rating: 4
